Calendar Time Notebook:

See full instructions for creating your Calendar Time Notebook in Week 8. Continue to color one square each day on your calendar. Fill in the weather, day of the week, etc. Practice memorizing the days of the week.

1. Read a book about pumpkins.

2. Observe a real pumpkin!

Go to a pumpkin patch and pick out the perfect pumpkin! Have fun admiring it a few days, then cut it up! Before you do, use this simple Pumpkin Observation Sheet to practice using your five senses.

3. Pumpkin Life Cycle
For a great science lesson, talk about how pumpkins grow. This set of worksheets would be great to learn sequencing  and a science lesson all-in-one!

4. Make a pumpkin recipe.
Make one of these simple pumpkin recipes together, like a No-Bake Pumpkin Pie, or Pumpkin Dip.


5. Do a pumpkin craft.
If you haven't gotten enough of pumpkins yet, have fun tearing or cutting orange paper to make this Pumpkin Scissor Skills Craft.

ABC & Handwriting Activities:


1. Letter P Introduction
- Review Letters A & L. Show letter "P" Flashcard.
- Use Foam Letter Builders to build letter P.
- Collect items that begin with the P sound: pumpkin, paper, pencil, penny, popcorn, pig...
- Color the Letter P Words Coloring Page
- Cut out the Letter P Word Cards from Raising Rock Stars Preschool and add to your collection of word cards for sorting beginning sounds.

Math Activities:


1. Review the color ORANGE.
- Review your color flashcards.
- Go on an Orange Hunt around the room.

2. #3 Introduction
- Review #1 & #2. Show #3 Poster with Rhyme.
- Add 3 stickers to the #3 Template. Add to your Numbers Book.
- Color the #3 Coloring Page.

3. Practice counting 1-3.
Use Legos, Unifix cubes, or some other math counter to practice counting 1 to 3.

Then, use these Clip & Count Cards 1-15 (Page 2 only)- Print these on cardstock & cut apart. Give child clothespins and help them pin the clothespin on the correct number after counting the objects.


4. Introduce some new patterns.
Using Unifix cubes, teddy bears, or some other colored math manipulative, create rows of patterns that follow an AAB or ABB sequence. Have child copy your pattern, then talk about how you could add on to the pattern at either end and still keep the same pattern.

Practice some patterns with pattern blocks using these Pattern Card Strips.

5. Play an active game with numbers.
Write the numbers 1-3 on large pieces of paper and spread them out on the floor. Play music as your child jumps from one number to the next. When the music stops, she has to call out the number she lands on and hop that many times.
