Click any of the links above to find a Unit Study that I've designed (and usually tried with my own kids) just for homeschool families like you! This is a work in progress, so none of the units are completely finished, but hopefully you can find something you can use with your own family!

Pre-K Letter-of-the Week

Target Age: 3-5 years old (no previous school experience)

Time Required: 35 weeks @ 3 days per week

Overview:
I designed this unit to use with my 3 1/2- 4 year old who started the school year knowing nothing about letters or numbers. She knew a few basic shapes and colors, how to sing the ABC's and how to count to 15. I wanted this to be her first experience with "school" work. There are tons of activities provided in each of these lessons. I do not recommend doing every activity! Pick and choose what you think your child would enjoy-- you will figure out what works for your child! At this age, do not push your child to do anything they don't enjoy-- school should be fun!

The schedule is designed to be done in order. I have tried, as best as I could, to line up the dates with appropriate topics for that time of year or holiday. Feel free to rearrange as necessary, but the math concepts do build upon each other. There are several activities within each week that could be done regardless of the time of year. The month of December is used mostly for catch-up and review, and to focus on the Christmas season.

Objectives:
- to learn to recognize all letters of the alphabet & their phonological sound
- to learn to print all uppercase letters of the alphabet (although this will be different for each child & may not happen this year!)
- to be able to name the beginning sound of a word and its letter
- to learn all major colors & shapes
- to learn to recognize and count one-to-one numbers up to 20
- to learn features of a calendar, days of the week, and months of the year
- to learn basic preschool mathematical concepts, such as sorting, patterning, matching, graphing, sequencing, story problems, and basic money and time skills
- to practice cutting, pasting & other preschool fine motor skills
