Click any of the links above to find a Unit Study that I've designed (and usually tried with my own kids) just for homeschool families like you! This is a work in progress, so none of the units are completely finished, but hopefully you can find something you can use with your own family!

Fairy Tales & Tall Tales Unit Study

Target Age/ Grade: 1st Grade/ reading well

Overview:
I did this unit with my 1st grader, but it could be used with any student that is reading well, but has not yet learned many literary analysis skills. Your student will be exposed to a wide variety of fairy tales and tall tales by a diverse group of authors. He or she will learn literary elements such as theme, setting, moral, sequencing, and comparing and contrasting.

Time Required: 9 weeks @ 4-5 days per week

Books Required:
A specific book list will be provided each list, and you could really just check each individual fairy tale out from the library. However, you may want to own one or two good compilations, such as these, which will be referenced throughout the unit.
