Math Activities:

1. Introduce ordinal numbers.
Use teddy bear counters to learn ordinal position. Using one of each color (up to 5 or 6), pretend the bears are in line to ride a ride at the carnival. One at a time, have the child place them in “line,” using the words “first,” “second,” “third,” and “fourth” (or “last”). Mix them up and place them back in line, then ask the child which is 2nd, which is 3rd, and so on.

Have races with toy cars on a ramp or hill. Use these Medals to award winners.

2. Vegetable Math Game
Do this activity after you have gone to the grocery store for real vegetables. Give your child a number card (#'s 1-6) and have them "shop" for that number of veggies at your pretend store. Once they have purchased them, have them name the vegetables and tell why they like them. Practice sorting the veggies and comparing them based on size, color, etc.
