See full instructions for creating your Calendar Time Notebook in Week 8. Continue to color one square each day on your calendar. Fill in the weather, day of the week, etc. Don't forget your daily weather graph.

Theme Activities:


1. Read a book about the first Thanksgiving.

2. Thanksgiving Timeline

Help child color & cut out pictures of the first Thanksgiving. Put them in order as you tell the story.
(Scroll to "Thanksgiving Party" and click on "First Thanksgiving")


3. Make pilgrim & Indian hats.

4. Read a book about being thankful.

5. Make a Thankful Box.
Make this Thankful Box craft. Have everyone in the family write down (or draw a picture of) things they are thankful for. Share them at Thanksgiving dinner.

6. Make a Thanksgiving Dinner "Wish List"
Allow child to cut out pictures from grocery store flyers of what he/ she would like to eat at Thanksgiving dinner. (Remind them of the type of things the Pilgrims might have eaten at the first Thanksgiving.) Glue the pictures onto a paper plate. (Idea here)

ABC's & Handwriting Activities:


1. Letter T Introduction
- Review Letters M & V. Show letter "T" Flashcard.
- Use Foam Letter Builders to build letter T.
- Color the Letter T Words Coloring Page
- Cut out the Letter T Word Cards from Raising Rock Stars Preschool and add to your collection of word cards for sorting beginning sounds.


2. Read a book about turkeys.

3. Sing the 5 Little Turkeys Poem.
Talk about the rhyming words.

4. T is for Turkey Craft
As an added touch, you could ask the child to tell you some things he/ she is thankful for and write them on each of the feathers.

Math Activities:


1. #6 Introduction
- Review #4 & #5. Show #6 Poster with Rhyme.
- Add 6 stickers to the #6 Template. Add to your Numbers Book.
- Color the #6 Coloring Page.



2. Learn to play Dominoes.
Introduce Dominoes (a set that goes up to Double 6’s is fine). Play a simple matching game, lining up the Dominoes end to end with matching numbers.




3. Learn to play with Dice.

Learn and practice how to roll a die with this Counting and Block Building game.

Then, play this Thanksgiving Dice Gamewhere you will build your own pilgrim and Indian.

4. Learn about most vs. fewest.
Now that you've learned about dice, have child roll a dice and build a tower of LEGOs or Unifix cubes with that number of blocks. Then, roll it again and build another tower. Build a third tower. Show him/ her how to compare, using words like "most," "least," or "fewest" blocks.

Do the "Roll & Count Thanksgiving" Activity in Part 5.
Talk about which row has the most and which row has the fewest.

5. Extra Math Review Activities:


Thanksgiving Number Cards (1-6)
#1- Separate the cards, hide them around the room & have child call out each number as she finds it.
#2- Have child put the cards in order from lowest to highest.
#3- Remove one number from the sequence & have child guess which number you took away.
#4- Put the correct number of Cheerios or some other manipulative onto each card.
